My dad is a vet, and he recently took in a patient. Brought her to our house as she needed attention many times a day.
This gorgeous little mare's name is Jillie. She is a standardbred horse, brown, and quite small, but large at heart. She is thin, but loves to eat
Jille was in training to become a trotter. But she had a terrible accident, stripped her back leg of the skin, severed her tendon and pretty well made a very big mess of her leg. She has to spend her whole time in the stable, and cannot walk very well, but she tries her hardest and is friendly and ever so sweet. She does not flinch or strike when we do her bandage, she loves cuddles and is happy to have a chat. Jillie is the perfect patient and we love her very much, even though we have not known her for that long, she is apart of the family.
Today, is a sad day for us though.
Jillie's owners came to the harsh decision to euthanase Jillie, as it would not be worth spending the money to recover her as she will never be ridden let alone race.
They said she can go to a new home, they are happy for someone to take her, but Jillie's recovery costs are going to be at least $2000 plus the addition of then keeping her for the rest of her life.
Mum has not found her a new home yet, but she said that we cannot really afford to recover her, so I cannot keep her.
I am going to try and get donations and run a raffle, as I love this little girl, she is a special one.
Jillie's life is precious, I believe she does not deserve this end.
I just thought I would tell you guys, I don't want to see her die.
She is so happy and grateful for her treatment, thanks you as you leave her stable at night with a friendly whinny and a nudge.
It is a really harsh injury, but she is calm and continues on, I am sure she believes it will be okay, I wish I could too
I hope I can save Jilly
Here she is...my precious little one.
Eating Loves hay, bread, not so much carrots and lurrves hot molases!
Mum is having another talk to Dad tonight to see what we can do. I am going to email everyone I know to try and get a raffle prize or donations, hopefully that will help.
All fingers crossed, toes..everything!
