hey guys..
has anyone else noticed that in all the breeds listed for the different classes (on the website for tsimhc).. ie light breeds, stock breeds etc the Appaloosa isnt listed anywhere!
Where should we put out little spotted friends in the show ring?
Thankies!

Appaloosa's go in Stock Breeds, but I did notice that it's not on the list. And my appy got disqualified in the last show cause her breed 'wasn't listed'. You guys do know appy is a breed right?

yeah, they are. horses like buckskins and palis and such are colour breeds, but appy's are an actual breed.

yes they sure are lol, i thought it was very strange that they arent listed anywhere.. oops id better change where my appy was put.. i thought maybe light breeds only because she's a dressage horse! (stapless mould).. so how does that class as a stock breed? lol

Argh sorry guys, the rules are all funny at the moment, but I've already made improvements to the show criteria which I'll add after I post this. Yes, appaloosas would go in stock breeds, because all appies somewhere along their lines relate back to the quarter horse or some other American breed. I know it's unfair for light models like Strapless, but that's how it is, sorry It would be really good if we could define builds/frames by molds, but that would be a hassle for unknown or custom models... maybe I could start that up one day, though So while it's the weekend, I'll write up a better, clearer and straight-forward version of the rules ^^,

yeah, coz horses like QHs and ASHs can do dressage, and not all of them are built very heavy. i know a stock horse who you would think is a TB!

thanks for that giselle i know it will be weird for strapless to be in stock breeds but oh well lol, thats just the way it is =D your doing a great job clarifying things and putting rules up everywhere.. this club is definately improving i see! hehe. good job! misty: yeah i know! i know a few horses that look nothing like their breed.. but i guess thats what its like with humans sometimes too! they made a resin of the thoroughbred deputed duke who is a gorgeous chestnut thoroughbred.. but the model itself looks heavily built like some sort of warmblood.. it really suprised me when i saw what the real horse looked like in comparison to the model!

stock breeds don't mean that they are "stocky" and squat in build, why most ASH's have heaps of TB in them and are very very fine, they look like they are walking on toothpicks! actually, strapless is a very ASH type.

The Society accepts appaloosas of the follwoing breeds : thoroughbred, arab, Quarter Horse and Australian Stock Horse. How do I know? I have a registered appy mare and one foal pending registration..... So seeing as they are not a 'purebred' I put my appies into other part bred. Same with paints - they are only allowed to be bred to Quarter horse and thoroughbred but are still not a breed as such, still more of a colour. My real appy mare has arab, TB, QH and appaloosa in her line.

what about the American Paint Horse?

American paints can have QH or thoroughbred breeding, same as in Australia. They don't breed true 100% of the time, as not every horse gets the pattern (ie, you get a 'solid' paint). The solids are now being registered as paints though.... A lot of breeders will put a paint to a TB or QH, hence why I don't class my coloured horses as pure breeds but put them into other breed as I consider them part bred.
