Here are pictures of my first repaint in progress. It started after I repaired his front leg and had to sand away the excess epoxy. The Repair All Fixed Then I tried to match his color to cover up the scratches on his tummy. The paint matched perfect in the jar, but dried much lighter. Thus started the total make over. I decided he should be a true black. With a little chrome! Here he is almost all done. I'm not happy with the two "white" feet, so I'm still working on that. He has a nice white stripe down his face, too.

Love the stripe! I've done that before too, had the exact colour in the jar but dries completely different! Well done!

I find paint does that all the time. You ever notice it's kinda the same with say a candle. It's one colour when it's dry but when it's been lit the wax goes darker. When paint is wet it's darker than when it is dry. Just something you gotta watch for I guess. The horse is nice by the way. What did you end up doing to the sanded part under is belly? Did you just repaint all of him?

I just repainted all of him after sanding the paint off of the white areas. I actually over sanded his face because I hadn't decided how big of a stripe I had wanted to start with. I even painted the very end of his nose pink and when it was still just barely damp, I touched it with my finger to make his nose feel wrink-ly. Otherwise, I just painted over him. I also removed his mold mark from his leg, too. I didn't even sand his tummy, that's the way the other paint that I tried had dried. I took him and the paint back to where I got it, and got my money back. I think he is turning out ok, too, but just wanted a second opinion since I have the feeling that we all think that we are doing an awesome job on our horses.

I think most people are going to say you're doing a good job and just point out little flaws if any. Sometimes I feel like eople don't critisise enough or too much. It's hard to tell the difference from his original self from what you've done because of lighting I think. But he looks much better darker then the lightish colour breyer had him as.

Yeah, I was just taking pictures of him with whatever light I had in the room. Just to track the progress sort of thing. When I get him all done and weather permitting, I'll be taking him outside for a real picture. I think he looks much better being a black than that really dark sort of dappled bay he was. And that's fine if you see something wrong with him. My original intent was to just re-do him for my daughter to play with. That's what he was bought for in the first place was for her to play with him.

The only thing I left alone on him was his eyes. He still has the original eyes that he came with. I liked them so much that I had to leave them alone. I hadn't noticed how long that one leg looked until I went back and looked at the picture! That's funny.

Ok, here he is. I'm sorry for the terrible pictures. I didn't dare take him outside yet as I want to make darn sure his feet are dry before taking him out. Be gentle, please, since I only re-did him for my daughter to play with.

He looks great! The only thing I would say is that his socks look too perfect. If they weren't straight across it would look a bit more natural. =] Otherwise he's great. The pink nose is really good too!

Thank you Rachel! Since I wasn't going to be showing him or anything except for maybe a stray photo show, maybe, possibly, I didn't think that it would matter much. After all, he's just a toy and he was my guinea pig.

No worries, whatever you want to do is fine. I just have this thing about trying to be perfect. XD You could show him if you wanted. =] I still show with photos I've taken at the beginning of the year, so even if you did take just one photo of him you could show him for kicks.

Thank you Deltreelodge. I have made him a upper level dressage bridle (minus the white on the browband and noseband) and need a saddle and pad for him, plus I will have to pick up the dressage Brenda. I think he'd be a good dressage boy. I actually knew a black morgan who did the lower level stuff and he was an old boy. I think he was around 18 or so. He was really cool, too. Granted, his mane should be braided instead of wild and free like it is, but I am not going to attempt it!! I'm gonna stick to re-paints at this point!
