Right-oh! My turn to brag! (and I’m really sorry for posting a new thread without reading everyone else’s, and I know I’d be better off entering shows, but I’ve lost the passwords) I would like to introduce another etchie! Looks Tequila For has taken about 2 months to complete, basically because the only time I get to etch is during lunch break and about 5 minutes before bedtime, I had been making rapid progress before I started working for BMD though. (and yes, Temika has already seen her) The photo’s are just rough rush jobs, and do not bring out all her detail. with a flash.... without a flash.... ok so I lost the photo of her other side.... so here's the head.... same head, diffrent side, and with a flash...and before I started on her mane (so yeah, partly finished) close up of flank... same flank, same side, but partly finished, you can still see the curls of paint. 2 random close-ups. yes I know, too many photos and I'm guessing that you can tell which were with a flash and which were not... I'm relying on yur inteligence to save on typing lol!

Ok, showing my ignorance here, but what exactly is "etching"? Is it drawing in each hair one at a time? And what sort of paint are you using to do it? I like the look of this roan, and it's a very unusual colour. Great job, can't wait to see a photo of the finished horse.

etching is actually scratching or 'removing the paint' so to speak in little tiny hair lines .. thats right isnt it penny? im not to familiar with it myself, but i thinks thats how its done!

Yes it is scratching off the paint. (I know my name isn't penny lol) I have yet to attempt it but I don't always like the way it turns out, plus my x-acto knife isn't very sharp so for now I'll leave it to Penny.

i spose the best thing is all you need s a model and a sharp x-acto knife.

she's finished, and I use skalpel blades (yes like the ones doctors use).
here are her full details.... Kurrawinya Looks Tequila For, Red Roan sabino (also known as rount) Bush horse* Mare. (age not yet decided) CM etch G2 Stablemate.
*a bush horse is similar to a brumby, and is not a breed as such, somtimes known as station horse, stock horse (not australian stock horse), station brumby, or just plain 'ol mongrel bred nag lol, they are often eligable for registration as a Waler, and can basically be anything, right from big clydie looking things, to araby stuff and ponies.

not all mongrel horses are bush horses, the ones I'm talking about are wild, but unlike brunbies that live in national parks, bush horses are on private property. (but just as wild) the correct term for her is a feral horse I think!
